His most recent roles were in the Technical & Sustainability Group of the Anglo American PLC corporate office. He recently retired after leading an Elimination of Fatalities Taskforce from 2018-2020.
Ms. Shipiki Kali is a mining professional with over 26yrs experience, she is currently the Business Optimisation Manager for Debmarine Namibia. She started as a Metallurgist in Training with the De Beers Group of Companies. Occupying various roles in production and projects, until 1999 when she was seconded to the De Beers Corporate Centre.
Maury Simoneau is employed by BHP within their Potash business, and has spent the last 8 years of his career working on the Jansen Potash Project in Saskatchewan Canada. Starting as a Site Superintendent and progressing to Manager Project Delivery, Maury is committed to continually improving project culture through demonstrating felt leadership with sharp focus on strong work planning practices that promote the safe execution of work.
Mr. John Brown is an accomplished safety leader and currently serves as the Director of Environmental Health & Safety for Volt Power LLC. Mr. Brown started his career in the electrical power and construction industry from the “ground” floor starting on the generation side of the business as an hourly employee.

Michael grew his career in operations management for both underground and surface sites from the front line supervisor level to Vice President of Operations. Dale Ekmark has over 23 years of domestic and international experience in the mining and other heavy industry. He has spent over two-thirds of his career working in large open pit operations, in both operational and corporate leadership capacities. He is a highly successful leader with a combination of strong technical expertise, focus on employee-centric mine safety/risk management and operational optimization. A common theme throughout his career has been the strong and lasting culture transition to a highly engaged workforce resulting in top-tier safety and operational results.

After a 30 year career in Engineering and Operations Management at the complex Smelter inUmicore Precious Metal Refining, Wim founded his own company in Operational Excellence ( located in the South of Italy ), from where he now advises other metal recycling operations spread over the whole world. His experience and vision about how to run pyrometallurgical operations is recognized in many other parts of the non-ferrous business.
Mr. Bodyfelt is the Kinross Gold Corporation Director of Health and Safety for North and South America. Cory has over 23 years’ experience in the mining industry, 16 of which were in Mine Operations. He has lead safety throughout all levels of the Kinross organization, from Front Line Supervisor to Director.
Jan Nel is the Operations Manager at Debmarine Namibia with 33 years’ experience in diamond mining, seven years underground, five years opencast & twenty one years marine mining. He is an Electrical Engineer by profession and has spent most of his career in operations/technical management at different levels in the De Beers Group of Companies since he joined in 1986.
Benoit Chassagne began his career at International Paper in 2014 as supply chain operations manager for their paper division in EMEA. Prior to that, Benoit held various leadership positions in the field of international distribution, global logistics, warehousing, manufacturing and sales & customer service. Benoit worked in many different countries throughout his career including Ireland (Dublin), Canada (Quebec City), Holland (Rotterdam), Belgium (Brussels) and he is currently working in the United-States (Memphis).
Robin Hurst is the vice president of Projects for Southern Company’s Technical and Project Solutions organization (T&PS). He leads a team of approximately 250 project managers, construction managers, and field coordinators in planning and implementation of major capital projects and O&M retrofit projects across the generation fleet in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.

Jennifer Bailey is director of safety and health for Alabama Power Company. In this role, she oversees the creation and implementation of an action-oriented safety and health strategy for the organization, which includes Generation, Power Delivery and Corporate. She ensures the safety and health policies meet all federal, state and local regulations while providing risk assessments, training oversight and data- driven safety performance analysis and trend reporting. She is a certified industrial hygienist and a certified hazardous materials manager.
Lea Ann Hjetland is responsible for Human and Organizational Performance within Southern Company. In this role, Lea Ann is responsible for supporting SCS Operations, Alabama Power and Southern Gas. Formerly, she was the Safety and Health Manager for SCS Operations. She began her career as a Safety Coordinator working for an automobile manufacturing company in Hopkinsville, KY in 2003.

Lauren is a proven mine operator with an unwavering commitment to safety, the environment, and operational excellence.
Steve is an Australian mining engineer with over 35 years of extensive international experience in both the operating and business aspects of the mining industry. Until recently he was the Chief Operating Officer for Goldcorp Inc. with responsibility for their 16 mining operations and projects throughout the Americas.
George Burns joined Eldorado on February 1, 2017 and assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer on April 28, 2017. Prior to joining Eldorado, George was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Goldcorp. Prior to that he held the positions of Senior Vice President, Mexican Operations and Vice President, Canada and United States respectively. Mr. Burns has over 30 years of experience in the mineral sector including executive, operations, development and engineering leadership roles in gold, copper and coal operations.
I have been with Southern California Edison for over 33 safe years in the Transmission and Distribution department serving in the craft, design, and leadership disciplines. I began my career in 1980 as a Groundman, and progressed through the craft ranks to Construction Foreman. I performed safely for 16 years in the field, and had no recordable injuries personally or on the crews that I led.
