Lea Ann Hjetland is responsible for Human and Organizational Performance within Southern Company. In this role, Lea Ann is responsible for supporting SCS Operations, Alabama Power and Southern Gas. Formerly, she was the Safety and Health Manager for SCS Operations. She began her career as a Safety Coordinator working for an automobile manufacturing company in Hopkinsville, KY in 2003.
In 2005, she moved into a role as an Environmental, Safety and Health Supervisor position at a green sand foundry in Marion, AL. Lea Ann’s career within Southern Company began when hired by Southern Company Services in 2006 as an Environmental, Safety and Health Internal Compliance Auditor.
Lea Ann was instrumental in the management and deployment of a large safety culture survey in Southern Company in 2016, which marked the start of a comprehensive change of culture program.
